Help! Opticon real-time machines thinks I only want to do 1 cycle! - (Sep/18/2006 )
Hi all,
I am using the DNA engine Opticon 2 from MJ research. I was performing some PCRs and the first one I did ran to 50 cycles like I wanted. However, immediately after I ran another one that I wanted to go to 30 cycles. I loaded my different protocol and started it up.
I came back to it a little while later and found that it only had gone to 1 cycle!
We have had a problem with in the past where it faulted and stopped at random cycle numbers, however this was different. The machine/software didnt pick up that I wanted 30 cycles even at the start. And on the status screen only said running 1 of 1 cycle, instead of its usual 1 of 30 cycles.
I tried loading a different protocol, still the same. I tried writing a fresh one and still it happened.
Rebooting also didn't work.
I am now running a virus scan, but I don't think that will work either.
Has anyone else experienced this problem. What should I do? Should I maybe re-install software?
Or is time to contact the company? Although I heard they may have gone bust?
Please help, any ideas truely appreciated.
Thanks
It amazes me that people don't contact the comany immediately when this kind of thing happens.
Get on the phone ASAP!

Yeah thanks - really helpful! Like I said the company we bought it from no longer exist, however, we are onto another which may be able to help.
Hi,
MJ machines are now taken over by BioRad. Just contact them. Maybe you get the newest software?!
Stay cool,
