Sectioning of plant material - Latex problem (Sep/13/2006 )

I need to cut sections of plant material of family Moraceae. As there is a lot of latex it is difficult to cut sections. Is there any pre- treatment to get rid of the latex?
Also soon after sectioining the tissue turns brownish due to oxidation, and hence veiwing under the microscope is a problem. Is there a solution for this?

-try to use anti-phenolics
- keep tissues at low temperature if possible because this will keep enzymes responsible for phenolics oxidation inactive
-for latex, u can use some enzymes to help in degradation

How about fixing the samples in paraffin and then sectioning, or do you need fresh tissue?
