how to seperate dead suspension cells from alive - (Sep/18/2000 )

I am doing stable transfection for some suspension cells(EL4 and P815) and have difficulty in seperating alive cells from dead cells a few days after I add selective antibiotics. I tried centrifugation and dilution but they didn't work well. Thank you for any suggestion!

Maybe you can try ficoll.

try using percol gradient centrifugation. i've forgotten the manufacturer. they do have protocols for separating live/dead cells. you will have to optimize the percol density(s) for your type of cells. you may also have to use more than one density gradient of percol to separate the layers of dead and live cells.good luck. john
