MIGR1 retroviral vector transfection - (Aug/22/2006 )

Dear All
I wold be grateful if you provide with details regarding how to transfect MIGR1 retroviral vector. I am working on a cancer cell line and I want to overexpress a gene that is encoded by MIGR1 retroviral vector but I do not have experience in dealing with such kind of vectors

Try lipofectamine (invitrogen) or Fugene (roche) or use calcium phosphate to transfect. u could get the manuals from the respective websites.

what I ment in my querry is that is it possible to by pass using the packing cell line to produce the retrovirus that will infect my cancer cells? and just dealing with this MIGR1 construct as other ordinary constructs using ordinary transfection reagents?

If u need virus, then u have to transfect ur packaging cell lines.

And if u need to only infect your cancer cells, u could transfect the cells using tranfection reagent and the plasmid.

Important question one has to ask is, whether this is sufficient for the experiment that u have planned ?
