strange behavior in mouse when handling - (Aug/10/2006 )

Pages: Previous 1 2

it could be catalepsy, although it does seem a little extreme for this. Some strains have a tendency for catalepsy, when you pick them up by their tail in just the right way they will start to twitch, almost like a seizure. I saw this most with ICR mice, but other strains also display the behavior. You can measure this with an elevated ring immobility test or a rod test.

hi ... i have seen the same behaviour in pigeons, they fall to a side with their neck curled and stiff ...... that might be a kind of epilepsy and the real causes of epilepsy are not fully known yet ....... could be any sort of brain damage.
