Precautions when using Azide - (Jul/18/2006 )

Hi all,
I'm preparing my samples for flowcytometry and I should use Azide solutions. I know it's very dangerous. Does anyone know if I can replace it with something which is not that much hazardous? And if I should use Azide, what precaustions you recommend?
Thanks

Don't worry, its not extremely toxic. Just be careful not to expose yourself or intake any of it.

LD50 for human is 29 mg/kg. Go to:

also azide doesnt go very well with the copper in your plumbing system and thus should not be washed down the drain
