Starving the cells - (Jul/17/2006 )

Hi

I want to determine the level of certain protein in cancer cells using western blot. Is it necessary to starve the cells before lyse them?

Why don't you try to do it with AND without starvation? (it's so easy to manage...) If you observe different expression levels, it might be interesting! And if not, you'll know starvation is not critical for your experiment (and it's also interesting to know!...)

information are too vague; what kind of protein is it?; as suggested try straved and fed; use also pcr if different expression levels are detectable
