How to deplete calcium from cell medium? - (May/24/2006 )

I need to do some experiment seneitive to calcium concentration in the medium. However, because my cell need some special medium which as I know, no commercial calcium-free medium is available. So how can I deplete calciuim from the medium? May I simply add some EGTA to the mediuim?

joklik medium is available from eurobio in liquid for roughly 30€ per 500ml. But we bought it in powder for 2€ per reconstitued liter from sigma-aldrich. We add hepes in it for increasing pH stability.
