Certainly, 2-deoxyglucose is not metabolized but any glucose present in the suspension would be used.

You could try adding insulin & potassium (to drive the glucose into the cells) let them equilibrate then do whatever you were going to do.

Or why not just culture them in glucose free media if they are in vitro anyway?
