RNA extraction - (May/08/2006 )

Hi,

how can I isolate whole RNA content from a big volume solution without a prepared kit? Does it give any material which binds specifically RNAs? Does anyone have experiences on this field?

you can do a phenol chloroform isoamyl alcohol (25/24/1) with your solution. But pH of the phenol must be round 4.7 (ensures that DNA goes in the phenolic phase and only the RNA remains in aqueous phase, while proteins get in the interphase).
Add 1 volume of the PCIaa per 1 volume of solution.
