How many genes in Arabidopsis thaliana ? - (Apr/24/2006 )

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a reference in which I should find the exact number of Arabidopsis gene number.

Thank for your help.

i dont think you are gonna get a reference with the exact number of genes in any higher organism as scientist have not located all genes yet,

having the complete sequence does not nessesarily mean automatically knowing every gene

currently their are thought to be 25000+
check the following paper for some insight
The Arabidopsis genome: a foundation for plant research. by bevan M and Walsh S, Genome Res. 2005 Dec;15(12):1632-42.

Thank you very much "grapes of wrath" !
Yes, you are right in your thinking about gene number.
