Where to get erythrocytes? - (Apr/11/2006 )

Forgive me, but I'm a newbie, and the lab I'm working in isn't a bio lab, so no one can help me out. I don't really know where to get red blood cells. Is there a place I can buy them?

1. Buy Buffy from your local blood bank.
2. Ask around your institute whether someone are doing buffy and ask them some red blood cells.

i agree with minnie mouse. My colleague call the blood facility service at the hospital and he gets some fresh blood sometimes. (as he needs the foetal blood he can't get always).

People in my old University department would just ask for volunteers from the staff. Saves all the effort and it's free. Of course you have to learn how to perform the procedure properly.
