Adult stem cell differentiation - (Apr/05/2006 )

I suspect my adult stem cells are differentiating. Several cells look hypervacuolized and I'm afraid they are differentiating into adipocytes. Is that possible? Hypervacuolization can also be a sign of cells that are dying. How can I figure out the problem? Claudia

i think u can do the Oil Red O staining to see if there was lipid droplet formed.or u can observe cells under microscope, lipid droplet is shining, the adipocytes are round and biger than your cells.

You can check by staining with protein specific for differentiated lineage. Apoptosis can be checked by AnnexinV or DNA laddering assay.
