HELP: HEK293T cells and geneticin (G418) - (Mar/30/2006 )

Hi,

I have some HEK293T cells which have been stably transfected with my gene of interest. This is being selected for with hygromycin.

However, HEK293T cells already have a stably integrated plasmid containing the SV40 large T antigen. This maintains high copy number of plasmids expressed episomally, if they contain an SV40promoter/origin.

Question: As my gene of interest is stably integrated and under the control of a CMV promoter, can I stop adding G418 to my cells without losing expression of my gene of interest?

i usually stop the G418 pressure after one month.
And regulary redo a 2week selection (every two month for ex...)
