retroviruses operation rules - (Mar/23/2006 )

Hi,

I would like to switch the topic of my PhD from parasitology to human cell biology.
I will work on HeLa cells and would like to use stable vector mediated RNAi. I´m interested in use of retroviruses but in fact I don´t have any experience with viruses and human cells.
Are there any hard risks to work with?
Would it be ok to use only separate flowbox and cultivation box or is it necessery to keap all in special room?

I'm working with a retrovirus (HIV) and found that the rules in Europe are different than the ones in the US (where I've spent 5 weeks in a lab working with HIV).

So, you better check your local regulations.
