Why PCA is used to deproteinize the plasma sample? - (Mar/08/2006 )

Hi!
Why perchloric acid is used to deproteinize plasma rather than other acid?
I have tried hydroxychloride to acidify plasma but didn't see the white precipitation which would happen if using PCA.
What is the difference?

Thank for your answer in advance! smile.gif

hi
some acidic properties would not be the same. Basci chemistry trells that HCl is H+ and Cl- and perchloric acid is H Cl04... I don't know the right dissolution of it, bu i think that oygens bring pretty differences in acidic properties. The pKa at least is not the same...
