general cell culture (and IMR90 line) - any resource to find out info about lines (Feb/24/2006 )

I was wondering if anyone has any great resourse book or site that talks about cell lines, or even cell culture for that fact. When i start working with new lines i am a bit lost and would like a source. Also how does one determine what size flask to use or if i should use 5 well plates or etc. I look forward to any advice.

the flask you use depends in part on your cell type, your personal preference, and the experiments you want to perform on the cells

I would go to ATCC's website; they have a great deal of good information on many cell lines, and also some general information on growing cells

another good place, is the vendor that sells you the cells...you usually get a 'product info' sheet with the cells that tells you the appropriate way to handle them
