LR white resin - (Nov/22/2001 )

I am going to use LR white resin to embed plant leaf materials and want to know: (1) should I use medium or hard grade resin? (2) What are the differences between catalyst (such as benzoin methyl ether, benzoyl peroxide) and accelerator? Under what conditions should I use them? It will be grateful if some information can be provided. Rong

LR white resin can be polymerised without accelerators overnight at 50-60 degrees centigrade. It is important to exclude as much air as possible as this will inhibit polymerisation. I use gelatin capsules as they prevent contact with the air. Using accelerators should be avoided as they polymerise very quickly and generate excessive heat. Try Agar Scientific for more information.
