Will low concentration of ethanol affect cell line? - (Feb/13/2006 )

I need to dilute dexamethasone powder in ethanol then add into cell medium. The final cencentration of ethanol is low. But will even low concentration of ethanol affect cell?

How low? It also depends on the cell line, some are more sensitive than others. I would suggest adding it dropwise into the medium with mixing between drops.

I can't remember the tolerances, but I think most cells will tolerate less than 0.1% OK, though I could be an order of magnitude out there.
