Lentiviral vector production timeline - (Feb/10/2006 )

Does anyone know why protocols say collect viral supernatant 3-48 hours after cotransfection of viral vectors? Is there a journal article that you know of that provides more info?

i dont think you'll get any virus 3h after transfection.. its too short!
maybe 36-48? i usually colect 48-72..
