Macrophage question. - (Jan/25/2006 )
Does anyone know the estimated amount of macrophage's that can be extracted from mouse peritoneum just by injecting with thioglycollate and waiting 3 days?
And the estimated number of macrophage with no stimulation at all...just what is already present naturally?

Hi,
Working with naïve unstimulated 2-mo old male C3H/HeN mice I get between 1.5-2E6 PEC, of which 45-50% ar mphi. The number increases 5 to 6-fold for thio-stimulated mice.
Bear in mind that unstimulated mice shield mainly resident mature mphi, whereas thio stimulation recruits immature mphi. However, these are good for NO assays.
Good luck. Regards,
Gerardo
