i was wondering if someone could tell me something (weblinks, helpfull papers or protocols) about alternatives for generating antibodies without using animals?

You may still need to use animal for the production of hybridoma, but once you have successfully produce the hydrioma, then it is just like tissue culture.
check link for the production of hybridoma

hi minni mouse (oh.. a mouse...hybridoma???...
thanks for your answer, but i can't believe that are no other possibilities in this case!!
last time i've read something about a thing called tecnomouse or so, but i lost the link
it's not the point that i wouldn't work with animals but it's not my favourite. therfore i'm searching for another way.
hello world outside! are there any other suggestions???
thanks!!
I just did a web search for "technomouse" and "antibodies". The technomouse is a bit of culture apparatus to grow hybridomas in a compartment closed off from the rest of the flask to make it easier to harvest the supernatants containing the monoclonal antibody. The hybridoma was generated in the normal way.
You could express recombinant antibodies in cell culture, but it would be impossible to engineer one which a particular specificity. Just another way in which nature is way ahead of man.
All the best,
