CpG island definition - (Dec/21/2005 )

Dear all,

I would like to ask something about CpG island definition. One of the criteria is Observed CpG/Expected CpG ratio is equal or greater than 0.65 (Takai and Jones, 2002). What does Observed CpG/Expected CpG mean? Thanks
