DNA isolation from blood samples stored at 4C for 1 year - (Dec/20/2005 )

Can anybody suggest a method to isolate DNA from Preserved blood samples for 1 year at 4 degree C.

I have not used blood that was stored greater than 1 year, but certainly have done samples > 2-3 months.
Used both standard RBC lysis and harvest from WBC using guanidium thiocyanate (very traditional method) and kits for blood (Qiagen and Promega etc.) and had no real problem.
All I can say ... give it a try.

I've used this procedure for 2+ year old blood samples. It takes a little fiddling to get the cells properly lysed with really old samples, but it does work.
