simple-sequence-repeat - SSR proposal assignment (Nov/17/2005 )

well, I have an assignment that I have to write a proposal for one of the class that I am taking in Univ.
the class is comparative genomics and I am thinking that I'm gonna write someting related SSR between species

right now I have rough idea about my hypothesis but I just want to ask you guys for any idea/opinion to develop my hypo into better one

so if you have any idea/suggestion (proposal/hypo, project) related to SSR or comparative genomics please let me know!

We need a liitle more info... Is this a program you need to write, or just a proposal for interesting things to seek when comparing genomes?

this is class project and student will come up with hypo and experiment to write 10-20 page proposal which contains introduction, aim of study, M&M, expected result, and discussion. Also, we will do oral presentation (10 min) about the project.
so, what I am wondering is some interesting project/experimental design with reasonable/testable hypo.

right now, I am thinknig to focus on inter simple sequence repeat (SSR) and probably pick up some distinctive SSR and compare the length/frequency of them in different species, and by the comparison, I would like to elucidate functional/evolutional/populational aspect of the particular SSR.


and I forgot to mention, but this class is almost completely relay on the database on line such as NCBI, BLAST, BLAT CarthaGene and so on, so some/even most experiment should be done without any bench work.

you will select only homologous loci ?

yes, I am thinkng to use homologous loci,
but are there any other recommedation?
I will start designing the experiment in this weekend,
so right now, I am not even decided that which species that I 'm gonna compared with human
but I would like to compare probably just three species including human
so, if there are any particular SSR that I can use, please let me know
but, any suggestion help, so please give me some idea of yours
