saline injections - (Nov/13/2005 )

new pharmacology student here!
I was wandering if anyone knows why saline injections are administered at the start of "response of mammalian tissues to drugs" experiments?

Any help is appreciated, thanxs!

is that a control, for any response that may be generated just by poking the animal, that could not be attributed to the chemical you are testing?
