will the passage number affect the performance of THP-1 cells - (Oct/28/2005 )

Hi guys
I am treating THP-1 cells with PMA and trying to differentiate them. They did not react well and most of them just die in quite low concentration of PMA. Then i realised that we get the cells from somewhere and they are quite old. Will that be the cause?

Maybe the passage number is not the cause of your specific problem and maybe it is, but it's always a good idea to try to obtain a batch that hasn't been passaged too long.
