blood RNA and DNA isolation problems? - (Oct/24/2005 )

Hi all,
I have a question about isolate RNA and DNA from blood.
Have anyone try to isolate RNA and DNA with Trizol?
If yes, please tell me how to do that? Should I lysis the blood cells first?
And can I isolate viral RNA or DNA from serum with Trizol also?
Or do anyone suggest some kind of kit to isolate viral RNA/DNA out of blood cells and serum?

i would not try to extract RNA and DNA at the same time. I mean i prefer divide sample ion two, and separately extract RNA and DNA (one half sample for one purpose). for RNA extraction, lysis of cell occurs directly in trizol
I've never tried to extract viral RNA with trizol.
