C2C12 cells model for differentiation - (Oct/05/2005 )

Hi there,

I would like to study a human gene and see its effects on cell differentiation.

however I was wondering whether C2C12 cells constitute a good model as it comes from mouse.

Is there a human cell line which can be a good differentiation model?

In other words how relevant is it to work with mice cell lines when studying human genes?

Thank you.

If you know the homolog gene in mouse, it's worth using C2C12 cells. Otherwise you can perform your studies on human satellite cells that are commercially available (although I guess they're very expensive!)

Good luck!
