How many cells... - ...gives you how much RNA? (Aug/18/2009 )

Hi,

I'm sorting some lymphocytes and need to get the total RNA from this. Does anyone know roughly how much RNA you can expect from a million cells?

Thanks in advance,

Bunsen

This will vary based on cell type, method, and from prep to prep. That said, I've done RNA isolation from a B-lymphocyte cell line and generally got quite high yields, on the order of 1 mg/mL.

I'm working with CD4 cells and sadly not pulling out anywhere near as much as that - more blood and sorting needed! :)
