Please help Interview questions!!! - (Jun/23/2009 )
Hi all I was wondering if someone could pleaseee help me out. My husband is a biochemist who is applying to a job for a microbiology medical technologist. They ask very specific questions that he needs to answer on paper. He has an overall knowledge but he has mainly worked in research, not clinical settings. So can anyone help out with these questions so that his answers will be most accurate?
1. Knowledge of antibiotics and their appropriate use in the treatment of infectious disease. (Give examples of appropriate
treatment and inappropriate treatment choices for MRSA, ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae, and MDR Acinetobacter
baumannii)
2. Ability to perform studies such as culture set-ups for routine and fastidious organisms, isolation and identification of
pathogens, and susceptibility testing on pathogens. (Give examples of requests to rule-out a routine and a fastidious
organism, and a probable workflow of the request from beginning to end.)
3. Ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment. (Give examples of instruments and
equipment used in a clinical Microbiology laboratory and your abilities regarding them.)
4. Knowledge of quality control procedures. (Give examples of routine QC processes in a clinical Microbiology laboratory.)
These are mostly personal quesions regarding you husbands ability. Only he knows the answer. As for question 4 it can be read up in the internet.
