Yeast and LB? - (Mar/24/2009 )

Hi there,

does yeast like S. cerivisieae grow in standard LB-Media?
I don't need them to grow perfectly, I just want to see colonys on agar plates.

Thanks.

Probably yes. But the lack of added glucose, means it probably won't grow very fast.

I tried it once by mistake.
It didn't grow well at all.

So, if I would add Glucose to LB, E. coli wouldn't care, and my chances thet yeast would grow on it are much better?

Done it once with a mate's yeast. Did grow on LB without glucose. Flat, white, and dry-looking (think powder) colonies.. :P
