Contamination of cell culture - Weird stringy thing in cell culture flasks - (Mar/13/2020 )
Hi,
I think I have contamination in cell cultures but after reading some post I am not sure anymore.
I could read that they were fibers. The picture of our contamination is in attach files
and this photo is that of a post that assumes it is fibers (http://www.protocol-online.org/biology-forums-2/posts/17172.html)
I NEED HELP

These are most likely fibers of plastic generated during the manufacturing process. If they grow, or if you can see cell walls then they could be a fungal hypha, however it would be very very unusual to see a single hypha like this, usually they would be branched and much more uniform in shape.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer, no it does not grow, we find the same forms in PBS.
