Importance of Glassware in today's laboratories - (Feb/15/2019 )
Glass Has its Own Benefits
Formerly, glassware dominated the domain. Right from Petri-dishes to dispensers and containers, everything was in the glass. It has been so popular due to its property of usability. Scientists can wash, sterilize and re-use their glass equipment which saves them from the effort and cost of buying it repeatedly. Another benefit that still makes glass necessary in some lab experiments is that it is a safer option than plastic when it comes to reactivity with certain materials. For instance, some solvents can dissolve plastic or some gases are permeable to plastic or can even undergo a pH change. In such cases, glass is preferred. Moreover, new-age glassware is being manufactured for specialty labs too. Their are laboratory glassware suppliers but very few deliver quality like science equip.

Agree. Glass is more reliable than plastic and it's a safer option for sure. We are avoiding plastic tools and equipment during lab experiments (only 7% of our equipment is plastic). I'm an engineer at Intelligene (informational DNA analysis) and I know how laboratory testing depends on the sterilization of the equipment. We often research parentage cases and it's obviously risky.
