SDS precipitation in cold - (Jan/09/2018 )
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to prevent 2% SDS from precipitating in cold (4*C)? Can I add any additive? Alternatively, is there any SDS alternative that doesn't precipitate at 4*C?
Thanks in advance!

SDS primary function is usualy as a detergent, there may be other alternatives, but depends what you need it for. SDS is an anionic surfactant, while in cold buffers I use, as detergents are used TritonX, Igepal or Tween. But all those are nonionic surfactants.
In things like SDS-PAGE the ionic function is irreplaceable, but for lysis and other uses, it may not be necessary.
