Free software to analyze IVIS in vivo imaging data - (Oct/13/2016 )

Hi Bioforumers,

I am doing a longitudinal study of tumor formation in mice. I have many mice and time points, which generated a huge volume of data. The IVIS machine I am using is quite heavily booked and we do not have an extra license key for offline use of the Living Image 4.4 software on a separate pc. I don't want to hog the machine just to analyze data.

Does anyone know of a free software for the analysis of data acquired using the Living Image 4.x software? Would appreciate any suggestions.

I found this in the install manual:

" The Living Image Software is licensed to individual workstations.The software provided with an IVIS® Imaging System includes a five seat license that permits you to install the software for data analysis on up to five workstations."

Admittedly this is for the most recent version of the software, but it would pay to check the conditions on your version. It  seems that you can do a free download of the software from the perkin-elmer website, so it might be worth trying that and see what you can do without a license.

It is quite unlikely other than this option that there will be software that can easily open proprietary software file formats such as will be generated by the IVIS system. One possibility is that the software can out-put more open formats such as TIF or something else that can be analyzed using ImageJ or similar programs.
