How should I understand these sub-chapters from the scientific description of a - (Aug/04/2016 )

Dear all, hello!

I make my first attempt for a major scientific project.

I am not experienced in this and unfortunately I have nobody to ask or discuss what I don`t understand in the requirements.

Here they are:

Chapter 2:  Project objectives, hypotheses and approaches for accomplishment of project objectives

2.1. Project objectives and hypotheses - this I know it.

2.2. Approaches for accomplishment of the research goals - not sure what I should write here.

It is not the methods and techniques, because they are requested in a separate chapter.

Maybe I should write a description how do I plan to achieve the objectives and to prove the hypotheses mentioning also the methods with all necessary argumentation, or?

2.3. Justification of the type of planned research (fundamental or applied) - no idea what I should write here. This session supports only fundamental research. Then, am I requested to justify that the proposed research is only fundamental, or?

Can anybody help, please?

2.2 Is about the fundamental science behind the idea, where your ideas come from, and how you might approach these questions from a scientific side - not methodology, but testable questions. An example (made up...) is: Research shows that gene X responds to stimulus Y (cite paper if possible), we there hypothesize that gene Z, which belongs to the same gene family as gene X, and has a similar function under conditions A, B and C, would also respond to the said stimulus.

2.3 is why you should get funded, what makes this significant research in terms of outcomes...is there a potential to use the research to design a drug or further understand a disease? Could this help people or the environment? Those sorts of questions.

Thank you a lot, bob1!
