Culturing LoVo cells - (Jun/28/2016 )
Hello! I'm starting a project using cell lines from the gastrointestinal tract and I'm having some trouble culturing LoVo cells. In our lab we usually worked with bovine fibroblasts, and we started working with IEC-6 cell line. It was a little confusing in the beggining, but now we work fine with IEC-6. Recently, we bought LoVo cells, we cultured them in F12-K medium with 10% FBS and it is in incubed for almost 20 days (at 37°C and 5% CO2) and it seems that it will not get to confluence. If anyone has worked with them, what advice would you give me? Do they ever get confluent? Should I try a different culture media?
I've never worked with them, but if you go to the atcc.org page for these cells you will find pictures of low and high density. These seem to show that high density is not 100% confluent, so they are probably contact inhibited.
