Storing temperature for protein after SDS sample buffer and boiling? - (Mar/30/2016 )

Hello,

I am currently in the process of western blot and discovered that I have stored the protein at 4C...

The sample was harvested about 6days ago and mixed with SDS sample buffer then boiled for 8mins, then stored at 4C.

Will this affect my results...?

since the sample is denatured it should be good.

however, sds will crystallize at refrigerator temperatures. so, make sure you warm the sample to room temperature (at least) and ensure that the sds is fully back in solution before you load the sample onto the gel.
