What does the RNA conditioning solution do on the agilent pico chip for the bioanalyser?

(caveat, i don't have experience with the bioanalyzer but i have a lot of experience with various chromatographic techniques) it prepares the chip for running the sample. it may clean the separation matrix or equilibrate the matrix with a proper medium for separation (or both).
