Culture Tubes for CHO cells - (Jul/28/2015 )

Does anyone have any experience with TPP TubeSpin bioreactors?  They seem like normal 50mL conical tubes with sterile/vented caps.  I'm thinking of using them for CHO-suspension cells but had never heard of them and wondered if anyone had any experience/thoughts.  Thanks!

Hi

they are exactly the same as 50 ml tubes and are developed for culture of suspension cells in 5-10 ml. you can culture the cells in Erlenmeyer flasks too but then you are going to need more space and medium. So basically the tube-spins are useful for analysis of large samples in minimal value and space. If you have cultured your suspension cells in static condition you are going to need to adopt then to suspension culture before performing any tests including expression analysis.
