which material can be used to fix small peptides on  tris-ricine sds page gel before staining with coomassie blue?

(i know glutaraldehyde for this purpose. can you introduce me another material and the method to do fixation with that material please? )

we usually just use the methanol/acetic acid that makes up the coomassie solution (fixation and staining in one step). we never seemed to have a problem with that method.

we often stained with silver and just followed our standard method.

using 18% resolving gel and then fixation of the peptide using formaldehyde before staining with coomassie blue, resulted in good resolution for detection of my about 5kDa peptide.
