online microarray data - (Feb/05/2015 )
Hi,
I'm new to microarray. Most paper that's I've read on microarray uploaded the data to an online repository. Why would one make your data available online to everyone? I'm sure I'm missing a key point here.
Making your data (even microarray) available online is useful to other scientists and research students. That's is the whole point about open access.
By putting your microarray data online you can make it discoverable by other researchers and scientists (as Srilatha said). This is exactly the premise behind repositive.io, if (hypothetically speaking) you wanted to find more microarray data for comparison and to validate any findings, you can browse over 4,066 microarray datasets and 292 RNA Microarray datasets on Repositive. All made possible by people uploading their data to repositories.
Repositive just does one step further by indexing the metadata from multiple repositories (currently 35), which means researchers can browse over 1,087,000 human genomic datasets in one place
