Need suggestion for research in which im interested - (Feb/01/2015 )
I recently heard (via tv)that water in pottery cups or containers become purify and clean and bacteria is almost removed as compared to glass container, cups etc. i want to do research on this .I plan to do coliform test, see the growth of microorganisms on mac conkey and nutrient agar and examine under microscope to see which organisms are absent/ present in water that is kept in pottery cup and glass vessels.Kindly suggest me whether it will be worthful for my publications or not? shall i do this because im really curious about this.
There is the possibility that pottery as it is a porous material could adsorb bacteria or filter them out over time, which would not happen with a low porosity substance such as glass. However, I doubt that any such results would be novel (i.e. the major criterion for publication), so you are unlikely to get published in any reasonable peer-reviewed journal.
So, i should not do research on that ?
You could do research to see if certain types of pottery are more effective, or if different clay compositions make a difference, or if different bacteria are more easily filtered, but in general, this sounds like it would have limited interest for most scientific publications. You might find that there is some applicability to 3rd world societies where access to clean water is difficult.
