Regulation by common transcription factors, how to interpret ? - (Aug/30/2014 )

Hi, I've got a question:

If you find out that two genes or a group of genes were regulated by the same transcription factors, what conclusions could you draw from this ? I got this as a result but I'm having trouble to interpret this in my discussion... I could possibly write something along the lines of that this common regulation indicates them being co-expressed, but this seems a useless point to make as that's how i found these genes in the first place...

Any ideas ?

Other than that, without knowning particulars of what you are doing, it is difficult to say much. You might be able to draw some sort of cell cycle conclusions?

Thanks for the answer, Bob. But what exactly do you mean by "cell cycle conclusions" ? Incidentally the one group of genes are genes related to cell cycle/division...

Transcription factor activation is often a function of cell cycle (at least they are in eukaryotic cells), for instance, pRB dependent E2F activation will occur during late G1 through S phases, but not in the rest of the cell cycle.
