Screen for F plasmid in e. coli - (Aug/07/2014 )

HI I've searched but can't find a reference on how to determine if an isolate of e coli has the F factor or not,i.e., F+, does anyone know how to do this?

You could just PCR a gene that's on the F+ plasmid and if it comes back positive, you'll know it's there.
