Hello everyone,

 

Can someone help me with a conversion table for molecular biology calculation. For ex:

converting from

1. ng -- mg

2. mg -- ng

 and so on....

 

If someone has any website for this or a conversion chart kindly help.

You just want to know the SI prefixes?

 

If you just enter in google (for example) ng to mg google tells you what it is...

That was somewhat helpful. I was looking for a chart kind of thing which i can keep with me for use in mol bio lab.

you can make that yourself... If you look at the wiki page you already have some sort of table that you can print out...

 

Its not that hard to make yourself:

 

nano = -9

µ = -6

...

What about converting from nano molars to mili molars and so on?

What you need to know is that the prefixes are the same for ANY conversion that you do.  For example nanometres is 10^-9 metres, nanomol/l is 10^-9 mol/l, nanolitres is 10^-9 litres... etc.

 

the conversions are always the same :

peta 10^15

tera 10^12

giga 10^9 (e.g. gigabytes)

mega 10^6

kilo 10^3 (e.g kilogram, kilometre)

hecto 10^2

deca 10^1

base unit (e.g. grams, litres, metres, moles etc.)

deci 10^-1

centi 10^-2

milli 10^-3 (e.g. millimoles)

micro 10^-6 (e.g. microlitres)

nano 10^-9

pico 10^-12

femto 10^-15...
