centrifuge parameter to obtain bacteria in pellet - (Jun/11/2014 )

hello friends,

I am a complete newbie in wet lab. I want to know that what centrifuge parameters should I give to get bacteria in pellets. I don't want to lyse bacteria. I just want to extract MRS medium and discard bacteria. I was thinking to try 6000-7000 rpm for 5 min.

Depends on the sedimentation speed of the bacteria, how many bacteria would you like to leave on the supernatant,... in any case, bacteria aren't that fragile but would depend on the species too

PS: if you can use xg or rcf, way better than rpm, that's only useful for a given centrifuge and rotor.
