Unidentified structure in tongue - (Mar/12/2014 )

Hi! Here is a section through the tongue. Besides the striated muscles, and the glands you can easily observe, right under the stratified squamous epithelium,in the connective tissue of the papillae, at the top of the picture, you can see many structures, some of them oval shape, some of them round shape, or even in longitudinal section cut. They are colored in different shades of orange, and it seems like they contain numerous 'vesicles' inside them.

 Although it may be easy to identified, I couldn't figure out, so does anyone have any idea what these structures are?

I could not really see on the image what you mean;  perhaps Von Ebner´s glands?

It took me 30 seconds to view your photograph, and 30 seconds to do google image search (q=tongue histology), to find the answer.

Do it. Then if you still have question, give us what answer you came up with and I will tell you my answer.

Edit: You are lucky to be living in Google age, otherwise you would have to go pick up a histology atlas. And that is what you should do anyways.
