secondary antibody creation - (Feb/26/2014 )

Hello,

iif for instance a primary antibody is generated from a rabbit, then the secondary antibody needs to come from a different animal species.  what is the reason why this needs to be done? Is it so that there aren't any rabbit antibody bands generated?

because it is difficult to get an organism to make antibodies against itself (autoimmune diseases notwithstanding).
